Josh Franklin (b. 1988) is an American photographer based in Los Angeles. Born and raised in northwest New Jersey, he studied philosophy and film at Columbia, graduating with a B.A. in 2010, and then attended NYU Law, graduating with a J.D. in 2013. He became deeply interested in photography while traveling in Europe after taking the bar exam and decided to become a photographer after seeing an exhibition of Helmut Newton's photos at Fotografiska in Stockholm. He retired from law after six months of practice at a large New York law firm and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue his career in photography full-time. His work focuses on portraiture, fashion, and landscapes. He is currently working on a series of black & white environmental portraits of a variety of interesting personalities, including artists, writers, architects, conductors, and directors.
